Concept Introduction:
Lipids that contain phosphorus atoms are called phospholipids. The common type of phospholipid is phosphoacylglycerol that consists of two fatty acids esterified with two groups of glycerol and phosphoric acid is esterified to one group of alcohol and one group of glycerol.
Triacylglycerols are lipids that are formed by two or more similar or different fatty acids. They are also called triglycerides and are hydrophobic and nonpolar in nature. Addition of glycerol and three similar or different fatty acids results into triesters that is triacylglycerols.
