Explanation of Solution

Given information:

One of the end point is (0,0)

Formula used:

Mid point formula is,

  $(x_m^{},y_m^{})=(\frac{x_1^{}+x_2^{}}{2},\frac{y_1^{}+y_2^{}}{2})$

Calculation:

Since one of the point is (0,0), therefore,mid points should be half of the other point. That is, the points should be

  $(x_m^{},y_m^{})=(\frac{x_2^{}}{2},\frac{y_2^{}}{2})$

for example, AB is a line segment with points, A(0,0) and B(5,6)

using the mid point method, substituting the values,

  $(x_m^{},y_m^{})=(\frac{0+5}{2},\frac{0+6}{2})$

So,

  $(x_m^{},y_m^{})=(\frac{5}{2},\frac{6}{2})$

On solving,

  $(x_m^{},y_m^{})=(\frac{5}{2},3)$

Using the method which has been assumed, values of midpoint are

  $(x_m^{},y_m^{})=(\frac{5}{2},\frac{6}{2})$

On solving,

  $(x_m^{},y_m^{})=(\frac{5}{2},3)$

Hence, the assumed method is correct.
