Determine whether the sampling method is random , systematic or stratified . Tell whether the method will produce a good sample.
Answer to Problem 13P
Systematic
Explanation of Solution
Given:
A bottle manufacturer checks the quality of every third bottle it makes.
Calculation:
Since the manufacturer labels the bottles as 1,2,3 ; 1,2,3 ; 1,2,3 ; ... and uses all bottles numbered 3 to check the quality . So, the sampling method is systematic.
The best method would be random sampling . But since here also he is labeling the bottles randomly , it will produce good sample.
