Every student whose driver’s license ends in an odd number is asked to complete a survey on safe driving habits.
Determine whether the sampling method is random , systematic or stratified . Tell whether the method will produce a good sample.
Answer to Problem 15P
Stratified
Explanation of Solution
Given:
Every student whose driver’s license ends in an odd number is asked to complete a survey on safe driving habits.
Calculation:
Since the students are divided into two groups : one whose driver’s license ends in and odd number and the others whose driver’s license ends in even number ; and then each student from the odd group is chosen. The sampling method is Stratified.
The best method would be random sampling . Here only the students with license ending in odd number are asked to complete the survey, the results would not be as good.
