Interpretation: Concepts of a model, an observation, a theory, a law needs to be explained.
Concept Introduction:The scientific method is a systematic way of collecting evidence to support theories/ concepts. This helps to explain the nature around us. In scientific disciplines, the term “model”, “observation”, “theory” and “law” holds different meanings of phenomena.
Answer to Problem 4RQ
Model: Chemists use models to try and also explain their observations as they formulate theories.
Observation: Something perceived that causes curiosity is categorized in observation.
Theory: Theory is an explanation of events or observations.
Law: Law is defined as the descriptionof any observed phenomenon.
Explanation of Solution
Model: Model is the most basic element of the scientific method. Model is a representation of a particular phenomenon in the world. For example: Physical model of any experiment.
Observation: Observations are essential in the subject chemistry. Chemists use observations to collect as well as record the data. Based on calculations. For example: Newton observe the apples fall down from the tree.
Theory: Theory is a group of connected ideas or concepts intended to describe something. It involves question- “why” or “how anything/ somethings happens. For example: After this Newton gave a theory that there might be some force, which pull the apples down toward the ground. This theory is known as gravity.
Law: Law summarizes a set of observation about natural phenomena. It is based on hypotheses and evidences. For example: Newton’s law of motion.
