Concept explainers
Interpretation:
“Indefinite shape, definite volume” is the characterization that applies to which physical state has to be chosen from the given options.
Concept Introduction:
The study that is concerned with composition, transformation, and characteristics of matter is known as chemistry. Anything that occupied space and has mass is known as matter. Amount of matter present in the sample is termed as mass. Matter includes all the things that are naturally occurring things and synthetic materials. Forms of energy like heat, light are not considered to be matter.
Matter exists in three physical states and they are solid, liquid and gas. Physical state is based simple on shape and volume are definite or indefinite. Physical state that is characterized by definite shape and volume is known as solid. Physical state that is characterized by indefinite shape and definite volume is known as liquid. Physical state that is characterized by indefinite shape and indefinite volume is known as gas.
