Concept Introduction:

Alkenes generally undergo addition reaction.  Apart from addition reactions, alkene also undergoes oxidative cleavage, where the double bond is completely broken.  This oxidative cleavage is done by ozone and the process is known as ozonolysis.  In this case, the regiochemistry or stereochemistry becomes irrelevant because, the double bond completely splits up.  Along with ozone, a mild reducing agent like DMS is used in the final step.  Apart from DMS, there are many other reducing agents.

In order to draw the product obtained from ozonolysis of alkene, the simple way is to split the double bond into two carbonyl bonds.
