Concept explainers
To find: The objective, identify the population, experimental and control group and a sample procedure of the given experiment.
Answer to Problem 6GP
The objective, identify the population, experimental and control group and a sample procedure are given below.
Explanation of Solution
Step 1:
State the objective and identify the population.
The objective of the experiment is to determine whether wearing a new tennis shoe improves jogging time than the normal shoe. The population is all tennis shoes wearer.
Step 2:
Determine the experimental and the control group.
The experimental group is the group that wears tennis shoe and the control group is the group that wear normal shoe.
Step 3:
Describe a sample procedure.
Measure the time period of the jogging of both the groups and the experimental group the tennis shoe. Then wait for some weeks and measure the jogging time again and compare the jogging time for each group to see if the claim was valid.
