Mindscapes 10 through 15 are based on the following musical scenario.
The editors of the five top rap e-zines vote on the best rapper of the year (winning the “Wrapper Award,” which is made of aluminum foil). The cand idates for this year’s Wrapper rapper are some of the best musical artists around: Acid Burn Baby Burn, Billie Hooker, Cool KK, and Doctor DoDo. The chart below shows the vote tally. Suppose that each voter considered his or her first and second choices acceptable winners and the last two as unacceptable for this prestigious honor.
We now wonder who should win this year’s Wrapper Award.
A Cool win, oh-KK? You are such a diehard fan of Cool KK that the only breakfast you would even consider is an awesome bowl of Special K. Which voting scheme discussed in this section could you employ in order to have C win the Wrapper?

One study of this idea first established that the type of music most preferred by black college students is R&B and that white college students' most preferred music is rock. Do the same for 9696 white students. Each student sees a picture of the people he or she will host. Group 1 sees six blacks, Group 2 sees three whites and three blacks, and Group 3 sees six whites. Ask how likely the host is to play the type of music preferred by the other race. Use ANOVA to compare the three groups to see whether the racial mix of the gathering affects the choice of music.arrow_forward
