Reweighing life expectancy An example in this section (page 786) recalculates the loss of life expectancy for people more than 15 pounds overweight by taking into account the effect that even heavier people (those more than 30 pounds overweight) have on the loss of life expectancy. The text example considers the case of 300 people, 200 of whom are at least 15 pounds overweight but less than 30 pounds overweight, and 100 of whom are at least 30 pounds overweight. Replicate this example assuming you again have 300 people; however, this time only 100 are at least 15 pounds overw eight but less than 30 pounds overweight, and the remaining 200 people are at least 30 pounds overweight. For this new sample, what the loss of life expectancy for those who are at least 15 pounds overweight but less than 30 pounds overweight? Explain the difference between your example and the example from the text.
