Delayed-onset muscle soreness or post-exercise muscle soreness initiates 8-24 hours after muscle activity. It happens after starting an exercise regimen or infrequently indulging in strenuous physical activity. It has a duration of 3-7 days. The delayed onset muscle soreness can be regarded as one of the symptoms of muscle damage that has been induced by exercise.
