Such research would take into consideration cross-cultural bias and is reported in a manner that addressed any limitations. Nowadays during the ‘technology era’, each Social Service professional should take the proper precautions to maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant laws and requirements regarding storing, transmitting, and retrieving data. According to Standard 9, when providing services through the use of technology, human service professionals take precautions to ensure and maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant laws and requirements regarding storing, transmitting, and retrieving data. In addition, human service professionals ensure that clients are aware of any issues and concerns related to confidentiality, service issues, and how technology might negatively or positively impact the helping relationship. Said professional**, should thoroughly understand confidentiality when it comes to patient care and what that means when pertaining to social media. If the client, or even the professional, do not understand the potential harm of keepings one’s life private, it could negatively affect their relationship.
Subsequently, maintaining confidentiality with a patient is an immense part of any career in human services, let alone health care. Standard 3 states: human service professionals protect the client's right to privacy and confidentiality except when such confidentiality would cause serious harm to the client or others, when agency guidelines state otherwise, or under other stated conditions (e.g., local, state, or federal laws). Additionally, the human service professional will inform clients of the limits of confidentiality prior to the onset of the helping relationship. Maintaining confidentiality with a patient is a huge part of any career in human services, let alone health care. By sustaining confidentiality with the patient, you gain their trust. Confidentiality should be expected. Therefore*, by not maintaining confidentiality, patient care could be jeopardized.
