The Ottoman Empire originated in Asia Minor, in the region of Anatolia, in 1299 CE by nomadic Turks. They expanded across a greater part of western Asia, northern Africa, and even occupied and defeated the Eastern Roman Empire. They captured Constantinople, the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire, in 1453 CE. The Ottoman Empire lasted until 1922, when it was finally replaced by the Republic of Turkey.
But how on Earth did the Turks manage such a vast empire successfully for 600 years?
