Expert Solution
Step 1

The end of the Civil War in America culminated at the end of slavery. Slaves were finally to be emancipated with the Emancipation Proclamation. The Constitution was ratified and amendments were passed to finally give the former slaves citizenship of America. Despite such monumental changes on paper, the reality was very different. The Southern Slave owners did not want to let go of their slaves so soon. Soon after, Black Codes and Jim Crowe Laws were passed to restrict the rights of formerly enslaved people. Thus, as a result, Black American Activists voiced their concerns. Among one them, was Booker T Washington.
