Question

Shumaila and Fouzia are two fast friends. They are studying in a local university at undergraduate level.
Both are shining students and set personal example in excelling in studies. They actively participate in the
class discussion, help their colleagues and are liked by their peers and class fellow. They both have an
ambition to top the class and earn the scholarship. Both have long term goals of passing with distinction,
earn a degree in foreign universities and join some prestigious multinational organizations like Google
/Microsoft/ Toyota and spire to become Chief Executive Officers in respective organizations in the days
ahead. They belonged to good family and have excellent relationship with the family members.
Both the students were buddy and used to take the assigned work as a group. The forthcoming presentation
of the subject in the class and the end semester project are the important activities that they are
contemplating to excel since both these activities carry 20% graded marks and likely boost the CGPA, if they
excel and perform well.
Lately, there have been striking observations about both the students. With regard to Shumaila, she suffered
an emotional setback when her puppy was lost. She had a tremendous attachment with “Pinky’, her little
dog. She along with her family took enormous efforts, but could not find. While she was suffering from
anxiety, she could not concentrate on her studies. In a quiz next day, when her dog was lost, she did not do
well. Next day, she had a group presentation and she was not in mood to do her best. As a result, her
presentation was not well. Her group members were annoyed with her and so the teacher who advised her to
be more careful about the academic results.
While she was undergoing these unpleasant affairs, Fouzia picked up an argument with her. The words
exchanged hot Shumaila used very strong language, and she said to Shumaila that you are crazy, I do not
care about you, I will do whatever I like, you make me sick, that is just about enough out of you. She also
blamed Shumaila for poor group performance and treated her in an insulting way.
Fouzia voice was loud, her posture was bigger than usual, her gestures were sharp / jerky, her facial
expression was showing annoyance, and she was frowning (wrinkles on her forehead). Shumaila was hurt
badly, and wanted to withdraw from the scene. She was feeling victim. She was inexpressive. Shumaila was
looking down; she had no eye contact with Fouzia. She was resentful, felt humiliated and degraded and
afraid. She started weeping and quietly left the place. She wanted to avoid conflict and please Fouzia.
Shumaila said to Fouzia, “Oh, it is nothing, really, be okay, that is alright. I did not want it that way; you
choose anything that you may like. I am sorry, please.”
