PSY278: Week 10 Assignment Page 1 ` Week 10 Assignment Worksheet: Effects of Divorce Assignment Worksheet : In the lives of a child, divorce is the most significant and difficult change. Children find it difficult to move over this trauma, living with feelings of despair, worry, and annoyance as well as difficulty realizing how their lives are changing. One important factor influencing a child's mental health whose parents are divorced is the child's age. Toddlers under the age of 18 months start to experience stress at home, but they are unable to comprehend the logic of arguments. They become clingy and irritated and have frequent emotional outbursts if the tension doesn't go away. The primary ones exhibit signs of a developmental delay as well. Between the ages of 18 months and 3 years, children form a strong primary link with their parents, making any disruption in the family challenging for them to accept and comprehend. Youngsters this age are conceited and think they might be the cause of their parents' divorce. They can go back to sucking their thumbs, they can postpone using the toilet, they dread being abandoned, and they want more attention than usual, democratic. Children who see frequent arguments at home also experience irregular sleep cycles. Young children do not want their parents to divorce and do not fully understand the concept of divorce. Divorce is a particularly hard notion for them to understand since they feel like they have no control over the outcome. They conclude that they bear a major portion of the blame for their split, and they also feel conflicted about what lies ahead and are racked with nightmares. Children in school typically have a child mentality and often worry that their parents' divorce would leave them abandoned.  Younger children dream that they will reunite with their parents and feel that they can keep their marriage intact. Eight to eleven-year-olds can accuse one parent of being unkind or self-centered, and they can also blame the other parent for the separation. This could lead to dissatisfaction being expressed in the community and in other ways. Due to despair and the effects of cosmetics, children may experience headaches that prevent them from attending school. Compared to the age of their children, parents' obligations are less. Since children are more likely to experience divorce and may be at risk for mental illness or depression for the rest of their lives, this is relative. The age of the children at the time of a parent's divorce must be considered. The age of the parent also affects how the parents handle the divorce; older parents do things on their own and exclude the kids from the proceedings. They are not speaking negatively about their partners in front of the kids. Although young parents are more unreasonable because they apply their personal preferences to their kids, who are significantly influencing them in.
