How might social work research inform dialogue on efforts to reform the immigration system? A social workers attempt at research plays a significant role in the informing of dialogue on the efforts at reforming the immigration system; examining of their experiences as well as the challenges they face, social work research provides the valuable insights at how the policies and practices are needed in order to improve the immigration systems (Jansson, 2020). An area of research that could be most helpful would be in understanding of the impact that the immigration policies would have on the families. There are many immigrants who may need extra support when they come to the U. S. and become separated, the policies are limited in their ability to reunite those families leaving a negative affect upon the mental health and their well-being. As a social worker, studying the affects of these policies would help in advocating for policies that are more family friendly. Identifying the needs of immigrants and their families such as education, healthcare and employment aids in using this information to develop programs that meets those needs to help in the integration that supports immigrants in becoming successful within their new communities.
