How might social work research inform dialogue on efforts to reform the immigration system? S ocial work research can contribute to the ongoing dialogue on immigration system reform. Social work research can help pinpoint challenges faced by immigrant communities, like trauma and discrimination. Understanding these issues enables us to advocate for policies tailored to meet their specific needs (Jansson, 2020). Examining the mental health outcomes of immigration policies is crucial. Social work research can provide insights into stressors faced by immigrants, guiding discussions on reform that prioritize mental well-being (Jansson, 2020). Social work emphasizes the role of communities in supporting individuals. Research in this area can inform discussions on effective models for integration and community engagement, contributing to the creation of inclusive policies (Jansson, 2020). Social work researchers are well-positioned to advocate for policies that uphold human rights and inclusivity. Active participation in reform discussions allows us to influence systemic changes aligned with social justice principles. Collaboration across disciplines is key for effective reform. Social work researchers can bridge the gap between academia and practice, bringing diverse perspectives and evidence-based insights to the broader discourse on immigration reform.
