"A child with a __________ background," he informs you. You are intrigued and a little anxious about having a child of this cultural background join your otherwise Euro-American, middle-class group. You realize that you are somewhat unknowledgeable about __________ cultures. You have one weekend to do some research; she will be arriving on Monday. Consider family traditions and beliefs, socialization practices, styles of social interaction, language, and special skills and talents. Choose 1 of the following backgrounds/cultures to fill in the blanks, you may choose the specific country within the background/culture to help you with your research.  Middle Eastern  Asian  Latin American  African  European What specific aspects of this child's culture are most critical for you to know in order to teach her effectively? List as many different cultural features as you can. 2. Find a video about this country/culture and education. Give the link and a short description of the video. Bonus – worth an extra 10 points. Identify a children’s book about this country/culture you could use to help your class relate to their new peer.
