Gokhale 1 Caitlin Guevara Professor Brasel EEC 4661 Sept. 27, 2023 Learning Log #3 1. Open Education – helps give children an in depth understanding of what they already know. 2. Montessori Principles – respect for the child, freedom of movement and choice. These stood out to me and felt important because the classroom environment can get very hectic and overwhelming for the students and the teachers. By allowing freedom of movement and choice it gives the children room to explore their environment and build their own knowledge of what they are being exposed to. 3. Reggio Emilia – the 100 languages of children: a child has many different ways of expressing themselves. This encourages children to feel free to communicate in ways that they are most comfortable with. This could also allow children who speak different languages or non-verbal to feel safe and welcome in this kind of environment. 4. After listening to all the presentations, the biggest takeaway from the different teaching approaches was that children thrive when they are given the freedom to express themselves and explore. Another similar thing with all the teaching approaches was hands-on teaching methods. Using materials like blocks, clay, beads, string/yarn, etc., are beneficial for the child and aid them in their development.
