What do you see as the biggest risk of students being online? Explain. Attempt 1 RH Randi Hermann Jan 25, 2024, 8:03 PM Good evening. The one rule I would choose in digital citizenship to heavily stress would be Online Privacy and Security. I say this because students often nowadays share a lot of personal information online without fully understanding the consequences. A large number of adolescents use TikTok (I get on there too so I am not downgrading it) and post their location, personal details, etc. without considering who might see this information or how it can be used. The biggest risk here is that students may become vulnerable to identity theft, hacking, cyberbullying, or stalking. Plus, once something is shared online, it's difficult to completely remove it which can have long-term implications for their personal and professional lives. You see it in the news all the time where professionals are getting in trouble or fired for things they've said or done on social media 5-10 years prior.
Educating students on how to protect their personal information, use strong passwords, and understand privacy settings is key to helping them navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
