3 Grant and Ray provided an attitude survey that helps individuals assess their views on family engagement between school and home (Grant & Ray, 2019) . The survey shares eleven statements that the reader rates on a three-point scale, indicating if they agree, somewhat agree, or do not agree with the statement. These questions encourage reflection and openness to look at the individual's weaknesses and strengths around family engagement. The attitude survey is a great tool to identify specific aspects of family engagement that would benefit from further focus and growth. After reviewing the attitude survey, there are three areas that I feel help me with engaging families. The first is understanding and acknowledging that the family is the child's first teacher throughout the school years (Grant & Ray, 2019) . This attitude recognizes the importance of family relationships in a child's life and educational journey, supporting collaboration and partnership between family and educators. Secondly, maintaining an openness to communicate with families through different methods, including technology (Grant & Ray, 2019) . Being flexible with the methods of communication shows respect for diverse preferences and the accessibility of communication tools that each family has. Third is welcoming all family members and acknowledging their family structure (Grant & Ray, 2019) . By embracing all families, regardless of the family structure, I help create an inclusive partnership with families that promotes a more welcoming and supportive learning environment for students. There are two areas identified in the attitude survey that I want to explore my feelings and understanding further to help me improve engagement with the families I serve. The first statement I want to examine more is "Tend to judge families' abilities to be engaged with their child's education, based on their backgrounds, degree of education, socioeconomic status (SES), or family structure." (Grant & Ray, 2019, p. 8) Reflecting on this attitude can support positive

4 family partnerships and engagement by being aware of any assumptions hindering effective engagement. The second attitude focuses on understanding how cultural differences matter (Grant & Ray, 2019) . This attitude covers an extensive range of understanding cultural differences. There are instances where it is necessary to review our assumptions and possible misconceptions about the cultural differences within our communities.
