Reflection and Synthesis Report Name: Simone Bagni Week #: 7 Instructions In the table provided below, you will complete your reflection and synthesis responses for this week. Be sure to complete each Response section. When referencing scripture or other materials, only include a brief or abbreviated summary along with the citation as these cannot be included in the required word count. When you have completed the document, save it to your computer and follow the instructions in your course to submit the assignment to your instructor. 1. Did you complete all the assigned reading for the week? Yes ⃝ 2. Article of Faith Please identify the Article of Faith studied this week Response: "We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth." 3. Explanation of Key Events and Scriptures Demonstrate your comprehension of fundamental truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and your ability to use the scriptures to teach them. Be sure to include specific scripture references from the assigned readings Scenario: Imagine you have been asked by a family member or friend to share what you believe about the truths and events you studied this week. Share in your own words several insights as though you are really trying to teach someone. Include at least three scripture references to support the truths you teach (you may reference them, but there is no need to quote them). Share your testimony as you would when teaching someone. Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria: 1. 200–300 words in length (please include your word count at the bottom of the section). 2. Include at least 3 scripture references . Response: I really loved to teach the principles of the Restoration on my mission and still today I really like to learn a lot more about the history and the events that took place back in times. Coming from Italy, my dad always took us around
several Italian catholic churches and cathedrals where you can still see signs and symbols of the truth when the apostles walked across Italy and all the Mediterranean area. I love reading scriptures like D&C 20:1-4 where I can see the Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were called directly from God, like Jesus Christ called His apostles when he was here on earth. Knowing that God has always been the same yesterday, today and forever, it makes me feel so loved and precious. I love hearing the words of the living prophets and apostles today as I read the scriptures from ancient prophets. I like as well the scripture in 3 Nephi 27:1–12 where Jesus Christ is teaching to His disciples how to call His church. He then explains that His church would need to be built upon His gospel and in the verse 9 He said:” therefore ye shall call whatsoever things ye do call, in my name; therefore, if ye call upon the Father, for the church, if it be in my name the Father will hear you”. We have the sacred responsibility to share this precious knowledge with more people as possible. For this reason I really love this scripture in 1 Nephi 13:37 :” And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost; and if they endure unto the end they shall be lifted up at the last day, and shall be saved in the everlasting kingdom of the Lamb; and whoso shall publish peace, yea, tidings of great joy, how beautiful upon the mountains shall they be.”, where we receive such a great promise if we do our best in proclaiming His restored gospel to all the people on the earth. Word Count: 350 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again. Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own: abortion abuse/bullying addiction depression divorce domestic violence energy/environmental issues violence gambling genocide homosexuality
international terrorism materialism natural disasters pornography unemployment poverty racial strife/hatred religious intolerance/persecution threats to religious liberty same-sex marriage suicide Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know. Write a response in at least 300-450 words and list your word count at the end of your response. 5. The world problem/issue I chose this week is: International Terrorism Response: This week I would like to share with you, my friend, a very important truth that, I personally believe, could make a huge difference in the world today, *Listen to the Prophet’s Voice”. In this crazy world with so many wars, rumors or wars and with so many terrorist attacks and international intolerance toward each other, it would be really important to listen the word of the living prophets on earth today. At church we have a hymn that says: “Come, listen to a prophet’s voice, And hear the word of God, And in the way of truth rejoice, And sing for joy aloud. We’ve found the way the prophets went Who lived in days of yore. Another prophet now is sent This knowledge to restore.” (Hymn n.21 Come, Listen to a Prophet’s Voice. I find these words so important today in order to be preserved from any danger and do our best to keep our communities as safe as possible. If we believe that God is still speaking to us today, here on earth with living prophets, we will be guided and protected from difficult times. And even if we would need to be part of a worldly disaster, we would know that this trial would have been just a temporal challenge, but one day we will be eternally blessed. I strongly believe that God loves us today as He always loved His children in the past and having living prophets and apostles on earth today is a really important sign that God always guided His children in the same way.

Knowing that we have a living prophet on earth today is really important because it makes me understand that the only and true priesthood authority has been restored as well when the prophet Joseph Smith was called to restore the entire truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I would invite you my dear friend to ask directly to Our Heavenly Father, in prayer, if President Nelson today is the living prophet on earth today, and if Joseph Smith has really been the prophet of the restoration of this last dispensation of the fullness of times. I know that these things are true because I asked to God and I feel His answer through the power of the Holy Ghost touching my heart. I hope you will have your personal experience and answer from God. Word Count: 397
