Reflection and Synthesis Report Name: Simone Bagni Week #: 3 Instructions In the table provided below, you will complete your reflection and synthesis responses for this week. Be sure to complete each Response section. When referencing scripture or other materials, only include a brief or abbreviated summary along with the citation as these cannot be included in the required word count. When you have completed the document, save it to your computer and follow the instructions in your course to submit the assignment to your instructor. 1. Did you complete all the assigned reading for the week? Yes ⃝ 2. Article of Faith Please identify the Article of Faith studied this week Response: Article of Faith 2: "We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression." 3. Explanation of Key Events and Scriptures Demonstrate your comprehension of fundamental truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and your ability to use the scriptures to teach them. Be sure to include specific scripture references from the assigned readings Scenario: Imagine you have been asked by a family member or friend to share what you believe about the truths and events you studied this week. Share in your own words several insights as though you are really trying to teach someone. Include at least three scripture references to support the truths you teach (you may reference them, but there is no need to quote them). Share your testimony as you would when teaching someone. Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria: 1. 200–300 words in length (please include your word count at the bottom of the section). 2. Include at least 3 scripture references . Response: I would be really glad to share with you my personal testimony and experience of how I gained my personal answers from Our Heavenly Father regarding the gift of free agency and the Fall of Adam and Eve. In 2 Nephi 2:14-16 we learn exactly the importance regarding the need of choosing between good and evil. Already Adam and Eve were presented in front of the first opposition between the forbidden fruit and the tree if life. Being part of
the God’s plan, they decided to partake of the forbidden fruit. Because of that their eyes were opened and Our Heavenly Father already knew that, He prepared for us a Savior, Jesus Christ, already prepared to come here on earth to help us to be free from the bond of the physical and spiritual death. I really love Nephi’s words in 2 Nephi 4:16-35 where he is honestly recognizing the need of a savior and the need of abiding to the great love and Mercy that Our Heavenly Father has for each of His children. I want to share my testimony sharing a scripture from Isaiah 52:7. I really love the Gospel and I feel so blessed having this knowledge in my heart and I feel such a great responsibility to share this great message to others. I am sure that is I would do my best in being an example, one day I will rejoice with all my family and with all the people that I helped to change their lives toward Christ and God’s eternal truths. Word Count: 259 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again. Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own: abortion abuse/bullying addiction depression divorce domestic violence energy/environmental issues violence gambling genocide homosexuality international terrorism materialism natural disasters pornography
unemployment poverty racial strife/hatred religious intolerance/persecution threats to religious liberty same-sex marriage suicide Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know. Write a response in at least 300-450 words and list your word count at the end of your response. 5. The world problem/issue I chose this week is: Response: This week I would like to share some experience I had with people or friends I met on my mission and even after that were or are facing the topic about “Homosexuality”. When I had the opportunity to approach people having this specific aspect present in their lives, I always tried first to establish a strong friendship relationship and a great trust relationship. I think that this is really important. If I would be in front a similar experience again, I would start saying that Our Heavenly Father loves all of His children without any limitation. He has a kind of love that us as human we cannot comprehend. Because of the great love that he has for us He would like to keep all of us safe from dangers and trials in our lives here on earth. The most important thing is to start to have a personal relationship with God through prayer as soon as possible when we are kids, either being a member of the church or not. Once we will establish this kind of relationship, we may feel more His love and Spirit in our lives. If we keep ourselves close to Him, He will teach us every day the good and correct principles to follow. We may fall and make mistakes in our daily lives but anytime we would need to ask for a confirmation about a specific truth, we know where to find the source of truth. Once I will be sure that the person in front of me understood this principle, I would start to be a little bit more specific sharing the article about “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” and at the same time sharing the opportunity to use our free agency to choose ourselves the path to take. Clearly not doing any specific judgement but helping the person to understand God’s loving teachings and principles and invite the person to ask directly to God if these teaching are true or not. I would end sharing my testimony of truthfulness of these eternal doctrines and principles and I would extend and promise eternal blessings to this person if we would strive to do our best in keeping God’s commandments.
