Weekly 5 Ticket Impact of Childhood Trauma On Psychosocial Functioning Children experiencing trauma at such a young age can highly impact their development Childhood trauma can be experienced in any form whether that be sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional neglect, and emotional abuse. long term effects are caused by neurobiological changes in stress response systems which include the HPA ( hypothalamic- pituitary- adrenal axis) and the parasympathetic nervous system. For those that have reported childhood trauma tend to have less sleep because they either wake throughout the night or even having a hard time actually falling asleep. With less sleep it can cause negative health such as stress sensitivity and distress. They decided to do a study to see the results of 22 participants and had a pretty good outcome. 11 had experienced trauma in four out of the five subcategories. Those that experienced childhood trauma during the younger years tend to have negative health conditions just like those that were reported in the samples. Having to experience childhood trauma can leave a huge negative effect on how thing are being coped with especially with challenges on everyday life. Psychological Impact of Sexual Trauma For those that have experienced sexual trauma have a higher chance at getting both mental and physical health problems than those who have not. They are also
more than likely to engage in activities that are not suitable for their well being such as illegal substances. There was a study that they did where they chose participants based on their trauma exposures and they ended up with 125 college women. Based on the study they sent them a questioner and also did a telephone interview with the participants. Although the results did not differ in age, they did however get examined by their SCID diagnoses due to trauma related symptoms.. The study had a number of limitations as it only studied college girls (Sophomore). It is common for the ones that experienced the trauma to have a lot of exposer across trauma types. With that being said, being exposed to sexual trauma can lead to a much higher rick behavior and mental health issues. Cumulative Trauma Violence has a huge impact on women’s psychological health which may cause post traumatic stress symptoms. It has shown by studies that women who were exposed to sexual abuse as children tend to be revictimized later in their life. For those that have been sexual abused as children and then later as adults get a higher score of TSC than those that have not been sexually abused both times. In this study they used about 210 females who ranged from 17 to 52 in age. After the description was given of the study, they were given a packet to complete anomalously. The results ended up being at least 73% of the women ended up having one or the other type of victimization, 49% were sexually abused as a child
and about 17% were sexually assaulted as an adult. If experienced multiple traumas they would need a specific treatment planning to have put in place to prevent them from risks of being revictimized. Reactions to Sexual Trauma in Children Child Sex Abused victims experience what is called a post traumatic stress disorder which can lead to behavioral problems. They can also get depressed anxiety and have lots of anger. A checklist for children that have experienced such trauma, Trauma Symptom Checklist, was developed to measure for symptoms such as anger and depression. For those that have had a positive adjustment tend to fell less of the blame and feel more powerful. The study that was given in this article was a 78 question that was designed to assess the post traumatic stress symptoms. This study had about 97 sexually abused youth that were between the ages of 8 and 16. The sample sizes were not sufficient with the study even though the subgroups of the patients samples were included. The gender of the patients were not possible because their were less boys than girls in this study. The results ended up providing some support for the CITES- R Attributional sub scales as they show levels of the clinical symptoms in the youth. Impact of Physical and Sexual Abuse in Children

Childhood trauma from sexual abuse can leave a long term effect of health issues later in life. The trauma can cause suicidal behaviors, and also can cause adult eating disorder. Children are often exposed to physical violence, emotional deprivation and inappropriate sexual behaviors. Children who are exposed to abuse tend to also experience more abuse. In this study presented in this article used a questionnaire that had 2,250 women that were randomly selected . The second stage they had to go through was a phone interview and was conducted over 14 months. The interview lasted about 1 to 1.5 hours and was conducted wither on the phone or their house whichever was more comfortable for the participants. The results ended up being about 107 of the participants reported that they had experienced some form of abuse during their childhood years. For the ones that reported sexual abuse had poor mental health than those who had not. The drinking level was more hazardous for those that reported the abuse and had a high risk of suicide. Children should be exposed to any type of this abuse as it is evil and causes mental health issues. Impact on Childhood Trauma Childhood trauma can cause more stress and emotional vulnerability. Safety and support is what is needed in a child's life to encourage them to be confident and independent. If the child is faced with a trauma then more behavioral issues start to arise which comes from the rick of psychopathology development. The
consequences of the trauma can cause not only depression but anxiety, lack of sleep, low self esteem which then leads to the three most used coping mechanisms such as denial, alcohol/ drug abuse and self-isolation. Denial can be used as a defense mechanism than a coping process due to the refusal of the trauma to protect themselves from reliving it. Survivors tend to use the self isolation for their protection of their emotions. For those that have built resistance against trauma showed a positive outcome for social skills, less emotional problems and the best reading ability. In order for the children levels of resilience to improve they have to gain trust, self worth and fell emotionally grounded. The study in this reading investigated whether or not denial, self isolation and drug/alcohol abuse were the best coping mechanisms in childhood trauma. Some of the survivors denied and refused to acknowledge their experiences in fear of the negative impacts. Compare, Contrast and Critique The readings define sexual trauma and the impacts of the trauma very well. They even go into detail about the effects and also went into detail about the surveys they did to prove their points. The most important impact that the readings bring to light is that the long term effects that childhood trauma can bring them later in life can personally impact on how they react and feel about things. I did not find any inconstancies throughout the readings as I found them all very interesting. If I was given the opportunity to solve these issues I would honestly help the children that
have been exposed to this trauma and if I can help it I would take away all the hurt in the world and make it to where no child has to experience this type of trauma at all. Personal Reflection Personally these readings shed a lot of light on me because it was very heartfelt to hear about what the children can end up with after experiencing the trauma. The life long effects can have a huge toll on these children and its up to us to be there for them because it is not their fault. If I was to say that there was a concept that I did not understand it would have to be the survey outcomes because some of it did not make sense to me at all. I really enjoyed reading module 5 readings as it helped me learn a lot about the outcomes of the trauma. After reading the module I do look back and remember that I had seen some of this on the news that may not be recent but from when I was a child. Works Cited Beilharz, Elise Jessica. Student is optimist in their efforts to learn the material though consistent attendance, focused attention ,diligent effort, interest in subject matter, and is motivated to learn the material. 2.) I believe that this is the best assessment I give myself because I took my time with these articles and also can reflect on some of the material as I have gone through some of these things as a child. I was engaged in the readings and also did more research outside the readings.
3.) I believe I deserve a 25/25 on this assignment. 4.) I give myself this point allocation because for this assignment I went above and beyond and did more research to make sure what I was reading had the correct information. After reading the articles I was able to put two and two together as I have went through some trauma as a child that I would never forget. Summaezing these articles was a breeze as I already knew about what they were talking about because of all the research I did. 5.) The things I can improve on would have to be taking more time on each article and being able to grasp the information on the first try.If possible I would love to try another attempt to improve my productivity.
