1 RUNNING HEAD: WEEK 1 ASSIGNMENT For this assignment, the movie I chose was A Walk to Remember. This movie was based on the book by Nicholas Sparks. The main characters of this movie were Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore) and Landon Carter (Shane West). Landon was a troubled teenager from North Carolina who loved to get drunk and hang out with his friends. They also liked to make fun of all the unpopular kids. One day Landon got into trouble for entering a no trespassing area that left a boy from their school injured. His punishment was going to school on Saturday morning to tutor younger kids who had trouble with certain school subjects. He also had to do janitorial duties and joined the school play. That is where he met Jamie. Jamie Sullivan was a non-popular Christian girl who wore baggy clothes. She did not have any friends. She stayed to herself. She also was the preacher's daughter. Jamie had a passion for singing. She had a beautiful voice like an angel. Jamie was very smart. She was also full of secrets. When Jamie met Landon, she offered him help with tutoring. He declined her offer immediately. Landon viewed her as the nerdy preacher's daughter. Landon acted like he did not want to be seen with Jamie. He did not want his friends to start questioning him or calling him a loser. When Landon struggled with his lines for the school play, he asked Jamie to help him with his lines. She immediately declined his offer. Jamie finally gave in when she noticed he desperately wanted her help. She told him she would and made him promise not to fall in love with her. As soon as the play came, both had leading roles, Landon saw Jamie dressed up with her hair curled. He instantly changed the way he viewed her. Landon became infatuated with Jamie. Jamie gave a wonderful performance that left Landon speechless. Everyone in the audience was intrigued as well. The moment they kissed during the play changed everything. Overall, this is a sad love story. A Walk to Remember is a movie that would leave someone tear eyed (Shankman, 2002). There are a lot of happy and sad
1 RUNNING HEAD: WEEK 1 ASSIGNMENT moments. This movie also teaches you that the person you make fun of today could be the same person you want to spend the rest of your life with. You never know who you will fall in love with.
