Harley Scott OL-342 SNHU February 18,2023 6-2 Journal: Organizational Behavior Thanks to all the material we were able to read and review for this module I now believe I have a better understanding and interpretation of what talent management is and how it works. According to the text, talent management “involves getting the right people in the right job at the right time and managing the development of people” (Arvinen-Muondo & Perkins,2013). I had heard talent management speak before during interviews but never really understood what it meant. I then started working with our personal department at Wal-Mart. I then started to listen more and then realized it meant making sure you hire the right people. Our personal department oversaw hiring individuals for the departments and I realized they were working and looking at applicants that can work during the times needed and work in the departments that were shorthanded. When I was hired by my HR department, I do not think they were hired with talent management in mind. I was qualified for the job but the others that were hired alongside me did not know anything about working in the deli and required training from the ground up. I believe after working with the company for almost 8 years that I am not used to my full potential and not being used for anything to better my work experience or myself. I think that all companies need a better understanding of talent management. If they took these things into consideration and hired the right people for the right job it might decrease the turnover rate and hire people who want to

stay and work hard. It will allow the company to have successful staffing and increase their productivity.
