Report
Good evening, Dr. Beharry and class, A situation where competitive strategy can be beneficial is in dealing with multiple units meeting an organizational goal. Management can create positive competitive situations with rules and limitations for guidelines. This can be a unit competition that can promote critical thinking and alternative resolutions while simultaneously achieving organizational goals (Yasmyne Ronquillo, 1). A situation where it can have a negative outcome is if the rules and limitations are not adhered to and the competition gets out of hand facilitating abuse of power between unit supervisors. This can also cause a further conflict of negative emotional contagion that can bring down morale and productivity (Burns, Lawton. Shortell & Kaluzny's, 2). A collaborative situation can be between a physician and a patient’s family member. The family members believe what they have read online and want the physician to use said solutions for their loved one because they believe it will be better for the loved one. The doctor/physician can use power to gain control of the situation but that will not be effective. What can be effective is the physician actively listening to the family member to see if it is viable and if so, producing a treatment plan (collaborating) of pros and cons. If not, then the family member respects the physician in the same manner by actively listening and keeping it open mind (Yasmyne Ronquillo, 1). The approaches I would employ to reflect the value of inclusivity would be collaboration and competition. Collaborating with other parties to get what we each want can open opportunities for further negotiations and lasting relationships. However, competitiveness can be beneficial in a sense of comradery amongst all involved. 1. Yasmyne Ronquillo. July 3, 2023.
