Objective: This assignment is intended to assess your knowledge of the principles of management and the concepts discussed during this course. You must analyze a company’s needs and goals, and its success at implementing strategies to fulfil those needs, while operating in its task environment and the general environment. You will demonstrate your knowledge by writing a paper that focuses on these concepts in the areas of human resource management, motivation and leadership. Instructions: Choose a company that has been noted as being a top company to work for. Prepare a written paper that explains why the company that you have chosen is considered a leading employer (and, in particular, focus on management decisions and strategies that have led to this rating). Do this by using what you have learned in the class, your experience, and your opinion by including the answers to the following questions: 1. Description of the company you have chosen (the name, the industry, the products or services, and an overview of the key leadership, including human resource leaders). 2. Description of what makes this company an impactful employer as you see it (including why you selected them, and their top 3 leadership characteristics in the area of human resources – this is where you must use critical thinking to apply elements of the course to a real-world example). 3. Explain how company has become a leading place to work by analyzing its: a) Human resource management; b) Employee motivation, and c) Team management. Be specific by looking at each element in the relevant textbook chapters and relate these to particular approaches or decisions of the company). Give specific examples for each! 4. Companies can always improve! Using your knowledge from the course readings, and research on other leading companies, provide suggestions for how your chosen company can improve in the areas of human resource management, employee motivation, and team management. 5. From what you learned from this course, to ensure you are an impactful human resource manager in the future: What are some things practices that you will recommend and adopt, or what will you NOT do, or do differently as a human resource manager? NOTES: Summarize each of the points noted above (1-4) in a written document no longer than 5 pages. In addition to these 5 pages, you must have a title/cover page, include a separate reference page of sources and attach a copy of the rubric to your assignment .
