How do you respond to a manager with a High-Mach personality orientation approach? What are the positives and negatives of a High-Mach manager in organizational culture? A High-Mac personality is characterized by the use of manipulative tactics and strategic planning to achieve personal goals and objectives. "Interestingly enough, High-Machs feel no guilt as they manipulate others for personal gain. It is a game, and the winner takes all" (More et. al., 2020). When responding to a High-Mac manager, it is important to be aware of their approach and to be mindful of responses accordingly. Positive aspects of a High-Mach manager include their ability to quickly make tough decisions, confidence, assertiveness, and navigating complex political environments. High Mac managers are also effective at negotiating and achieving desired outcomes. The negative side of being a High-Mach manager may include a lack of empathy and concern for others and a focus on achieving personal goals at the expense of the organization as a whole. This approach may also contribute to a toxic work environment and low employee morale. It is important to approach High-Mac managers with a clear understanding of their approach and respond assertively while maintaining a professional demeanor. It may also be helpful to communicate the potential negative consequences of their actions on the organization and work towards finding a solution that benefits everyone involved. More, H.
