Sustainability: Coca-Cola The company which we as a group selected for Sustainability is Coca- cola.It comes under the non alcoholic beverages segment.So we studied all the activities which Coke is doing as a part of their Sustainable innovation and we divided two major topics among each of us.The topic which I chose was Climate protection and Sustainable Agriculture.As protecting the   environment   was the need of the hour I took up these two topics as I found these two quite interesting.Coke is doing a lot of activities in protecting the environment and I researched about that and came up with certain strategies for them as follows: PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT: Coca cola is investing a lot of its resources in creating a sustainable environment. The aim of this document it to guide =suppliers on various pathways to ensure   sustainability   is complied with. This comprehensive program applies to all geographies and covers the key commodities and ingredients used to produce our products. WHAT’S NEXT? Some of Coca Cola’s near-term sustainable agriculture objectives include: • Achieve a significant increase in supplier engagement towards their sustainable sourcing goals in sugar, lemons, coffee and tea. • Enroll suppliers across all commodities in their seven-stage Supplier Engagement Program. • Continue to work collaboratively with their bottling partners to develop best practices—sometimes taking the lead, and at other times learning
from their leadership. • Formalize a data gathering, collection and management process to track the sourcing of ingredients they use in their products. • Implement the Bonsucro Chain of Custody program for cane sugar so that they can trace the sugar they purchase to its source. • Engage and enroll smallholder farmers in their efforts toward improved sustainable sourcing.   …show more content… Environment Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
