You make a good point on the damage micromanaging can cause. Collins, et al (2021) discussed how damaging micromanaging is. One of the major things they suggested was that managers that micromanage, inhibit autonomy. I would suggest that high-performing teams need to be autonomous to achieve their goals. But could autonomy also lead to more creativity and growth? How important would this be on a team? Yes, autonomy is a key characteristic of high-performing teams. When team members are empowered to make decisions and take ownership of their work, they feel a sense of control and trust in their abilities. This freedom to act independently can foster an environment where team members feel safe to express their ideas, voice concerns, and take calculated risks. This can lead to open dialogue and collaboration, which can fuel individual motivation, team velocity, and organization scale (Du Plessis et al., 2022). In autonomous teams, each member has the opportunity to confidently express their ideas and thoughts. This freedom of expression and thought is crucial to fostering creativity and innovation, without which individuals and organizations cannot evolve, grow, and be competitive. A high-performance team distinguishes itself through their autonomy, agility, efficiency, and productivity. These teams strike a delicate balance between these key factors, not only ensuring their growth but also contributing significantly to the overall success of the company (Kristen, 2023). High-performing teams, driven by excellence, are the backbone of any successful organization. Their skills, commitment, and self-directed responsibility make them a beacon of efficiency and effectiveness in the competitive business landscape.
