Replace the bracketed text below with your responses.
Identify the topic you chose to explore:
Climate Change - Chernobyl
Identify a historical perspective that could be applied to your historical event.
I think the Economic/ Living
Perspective made a major impact to the area. Since the explosion
people are not able to live around the disaster site.
Revise your research question based on evidence from your primary and secondary sources.
Did climate change intensify the radioactivity in the areas around Chernobyl and what long-term
effect will it have on the area?
Will the climate change in the surrounding areas of Chernobyl be intensified by radioactivity?
Explain how historical perspective and evidence from sources influenced your finalized research
question.
I wondered if people still wanted to live in Chernobyl because they were “lower class.” If they were
compensated because of the accident, why wouldn't they move? Were there only a specific
group of people who received compensation for their loss? These questions sparked more
curiosity about the economic impacts rather than the health concerns.
After the explosion makes you wonder if people wanted to still live in the Chernobyl region since
they were “low class”.
Were they compensated due to the explosion and if they were why did
they not move? The circumstances in which they lived may have played a part due to the rise in
lymphatic leukemia which is not radiation related versus leukemia which is substantially linked
with radiation exposure.
Some people were exposed to the chemicals that were a cause of
leukemia, and 40 years later people were just discovered related to the Chernobyl disaster.
