Jacey Lamontagne; adequate housing for foster kids Gap Analysis “The Gap” Current State Ideal State Feeling safe and secure in my home and having loving guardians who love and provide for me. I would be able to finish high school and pursue more schooling from being provided parents that taught me how to take care of myself and pursue my dreams and goals. Being able to finish high school and go off on your own after shows that you have grown to become self-reliant through the means you were given. Having all kids in the foster care system in safe and secure homes where they are given the same opportunities of others. All kids are given a good education and provided with opportunities to play sports, instruments or pursue their talents. There needs to be more intervention in Foster Homes. Someone needs to be checking each home regularly and making sure these kids are being provided for and not taken advantage of. There needs to be someone who takes the kids out of the home and talks to them without the foster parents present to make sure they’re safe. There also needs to be more education about kids in foster care and adoption systems in the school system so that other kids can understand them better and make them feel more at home. Foster Parents also need to be better educated to know how to take care of kids. Foster parents need to be thoroughly educated on how to raise these children. When kids are placed into Foster Care the parents that will be housing them need to know how to teach these kids responsibility in a healthy way. They need to know how to encourage the kids to take care of themselves and encourage them to pursue different goals and know the difference between right and wrong. As these children are taught these things and believe in themselves these thought will turn into actions and then eventually they will gain assets from pursing their goals. There are many kids in Foster care who are not treated in a loving or kind manner. Many times these children are taken advantage of for the money that foster parents can gain from taking them in. Because these kids grow up in a home where no one encourages them to grow they are confined to so many limitations. They are never told their potential and therefore stay stuck where they are.
