AP Human Geography Final Project “PING” Research Project/Presentation Overview: This project is called the PING project. Essentially you will be picking a country and then doing a research project about this project and then presenting that project to the class. This project is broken down into 3 parts that will all be handed in: Research, Google Slide Creation, and Presentation. Due Date: June 1st (Presentations will occur the last 2 weeks of school ) -> Handed into Canvas. Resources/Links: - CIA World Factbook: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/ - Encyclopedia Britannica: https://www.britannica.com/ - World Atlas: http://www.worldatlas.com/ CITE Example: Switzerland has 32 cantons which essentially act as states or counties in their country (CIA.gov/switzerland) PART 1: Research (Google DOCS) * Handed in on Canvas * Include research on each element of your project. Cite your sources on each fact (Where did you take this fact from regarding your country?) PART 2: Google Slide Creation * After doing your research Google Doc sheet you are going to construct Google Slides regarding these different elements of your PING Country. Slide # Title of Slide Content on the Slide 1 Title Page - Name, Period - Name of Your Country - Flag 2 MAP - World and Regional Map of Your Country 3-5 Unit 1 Information Physical Geography Maps - Physical Geography of your country: What are the important landforms of this country? What are the important natural features of this country? What is the size of this country? - Location of Country: Where is this country located? Absolute Location? Relative Location? - Political Geography: What are the boundaries of this country? Who is this country’s neighbors? Does this country have any states, cantons, provinces, etc? 6-8 Unit 2 Information Population Pronatalist/Antinatali st - 2 Maps that represent the population density of your country - Population Density: Where are the major cities located, and what is their population? Along these same lines what are these cities population density? - Population Pyramid Graph of your country population
DTM - What stage of the DTM is your country? - Does your country have any pronatalist or anti natalist policies? What are they? - Population Facts: RNI, IMR, TFR, CDR, CBR 9-11 Unit 3 Information Language Religion Laws Government - A map that represents the language of your country - A map of the religions of your country - Languages of Your Country: What are the main languages in your country? What percent of these languages are spoken in your country? - Religion of Your Country: What are the religions that are practiced in your country? What percentages of each religion are practiced in your country? - What are some different laws in your country in comparison to the United States? Are women treated differently than men? - What kind of architecture is common in your country? Why is that? - What form of government does your country practice? Does religion or language have an impact on laws of your country? 12-14 Unit 4 Information Centripetal v. Centrifugal Shape Supranational Organizations - What are some centripetal forces that bring people together in your country? What are some things that people like about your country? - What are some centrifugal forces that are pulling people apart in your country? What are some things that are problematic in your country? - What is the state shape of your country? What are some advantages or disadvantages of this state shape? - Is your country involved in any supranational organizations? Do they play a leading role in this organization? 15 Unit 5 Information Agriculture - What types of agriculture does this country practice the most? - What are the biggest exports and imports for this country? - What type of crops are most commonly grown in this country? 16 Unit 6/Unit 7 Information - What are the major cities in your country? - What is the capital of your country? - Pictures of the “Downtown” of your country… 17-19 Current Event - A detailed explanation of the current event issue that you have chosen regarding your country. - Note: make sure that you have a minimum of three sources regarding your current event in your country. - Create a list of locations, places, and organizations that your current event comes has to do with. - What is the impact of this current event on individuals, places and organizations? 20 Works Cited Works Cited Page (Minimum of 5 Sources) PART 3: Presentation -> The last week of school you will present your PING project.
