SAVANNAH RIVER OPERATIONS OFFICE
This contract was open because The Department of Energy is working towards being a
carbon-free energy at all DOE sites by 2030. The Savannah River Site is one of the largest, with
310 square miles. They are focusing on offsetting the annual electricity consumption by
generating an equivalent amount of energy using CFE technology, for example, solar,
geothermal, and small modular reactors. To fully offset the energy consumed, the facility must
offset approximately 180,000 MWh by 2030 and 360,000 MWh annually by 2032. The site
would like to consider opportunities for energy storage in addition to carbon-free energy in the
future, generating as much carbon-free energy as possible without impacting the site's primary
objective.
