Police Clearance and Working with Children Check. To work with children in South Australian government or catholic educational sites, a police clearance and working with children check is required. I have a catholic police clearance and it is due to run out in December therefore in the process of renewing it. I haven’t the working with children check (WWCC) as yet because in came into law in July 2019 for South Australia. Therefore, it didn’t need to be processed till when your current police clearance is renewed. These are separate checks and are both needed as a teacher. They both are one strategy of ensuring children’s safety. The difference between them is WWCC is an ongoing assessment of someone’s eligibility to work. A police clearance is current on the day of issue with list of offences and criminal history. Tania, Thank you for your A1 submission, and congratulations on your distinction. Your assignments shows that you are on the right track for attaining the learning outcomes of this unit by demonstrating that you have the ability to *Explore the role of technologies in your personal and professional life. *Evaluate the complexities of the digital world and its impact on education and schooling. By way of additional feedback, it would appear that your being highly active in participating on the DB and your grasp of the Unit content should stand you in good stead for A2. Well done! Sam Tabbakh, April 2020
Reflecting on documenting evidence against the graduate teacher Reflecting on what artefacts needed or produced for evidence gives a clear purpose of meeting the standard. It also gives the ability to reflect on improvement or look at what can be achieved to move it from graduate to professional career stage (Rolfe et al., 2001). Wolf (2000) describes portfolios as “depository of artefacts” and reflection on these will develop the significance and reason of adding the artefacts to portfolio. It is to show the graduate student’s knowledge and achievements capturing what is essential for them to have developed to be a qualified teacher. Churchill pg 30 2019 The artefacts are not just a collection of achievements it involves thinking about the practice and show strength and weaknesses to develop goals and plans for the future. Churchill 2019. The artefact I have chosen is a website made for teaching digital technology. It covers standards 2.6, 3.4, 4.5, 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4. 2.6 – I used a varied of strategies and technologies to present the different topics these were Voki, Animation, Prezi and Screencast. These technologies can be used in various ways to expand curriculum opportunities. For example, on the website I presented cyberbullying information in Prezi, it gave a different way to present information than using PowerPoint to which I see often used in class. The program is free it does have some paid elements but do not need them to make a presentation. It is easy to use and when I teach it is a tool, I will use to provide a different learning opportunity. 3.4 - As a teacher, I can scaffold their learning to create, desired outcomes, when I know how and why the use of digital technology. The knowledge gained was shown through the varied ICT tools used to present website. 4.5 – The information given for topics of digital fluency, cyberbullying and digital footprint showed knowledge of understanding and complexities of a digital world to be able to support students in safe use of ICT. 6.2 – The website showed the understanding of using the right resources to present the varied topics. Each topic was to be presented in different forms and they did overlap however it had to clearly show visual, listening (voice recording of information), and video. It improved my practice of using ICT and finding appropriate resources. 6.3 – The feedback I received from my tutor was: Dear Tania,   Thank you for your A2 submission, and congratulations on your distinction.  Your assignment shows very good development in your ability to   *Apply a range of ICT tools resources and approaches to learning and teaching.
* Evaluate the complexities of the digital world and its impact on education and Schooling; as well as to * Create a range of teaching and learning resources that are relevant and useful to your development as an educator.   Well done!    Sam Tabbakh May 2020 Feedback from the rubric showed an improvement needed to work on for the future is expanding on the evaluation of the process. 6.4 Digital Fluency involves knowing why the purpose of using the technology and when to use it. Being digitally fluent does not mean you need to know every single technology out there but be willing embrace new ideas and try them to explore the classroom. I have demonstrated this on the website and through making it built an understanding to continue learning. Its lifelong learning. First aid certificates Curtin Extra certificates Evidence from paid work My philosophy of education is to provide an environment where the children feel safe, be creative, encourages risk taking, and is stimulating. I believe children learn upon acting on the environment and learning is an active process. Each child is developing their own potential and learning styles. I will incorporate each different learning styles through the curriculum. The students will be provided opportunities to experience inquiry learning, which develops student centred learning and group work. In addition, I believe that children need their learning scaffolded to enable them to accomplish tasks within their abilities. I will provide support necessary for learners to build skills that will enable them to learn more independently. I believe children have the right to have a safe nurturing environment and as a teacher I can facilitate this. I will provide opportunities for the children to grow physically and build their social and emotional learning. It is my desire to create a positive atmosphere and resilience for children to establish positive relationships and learn to handle challenging situations. Children’s behaviour can be positively guided to develop acceptable behaviour patterns, enhance their wellbeing and develop their social and emotional competence. I will assist students to express themselves and accept themselves and others embracing their differences. I feel teaching is a process of continual learning through students, parents, colleagues and the school community. To teach I need to continually learn and grow and to do this I will attend professional development that will improve my skills and develop strategies that I can incorporate in the classroom. Teaching is a life learning process with a practice of building new knowledge and developing own professional meaning. I believe good teachers routinely reflect upon their practice. I will use ongoing reflection to improve student learning and decided on strategies that are working and not working to set learning goals. In addition, I will ensure there are regular mechanisms developed to evaluate and reflect on all aspects of the students learning and my own. I have a strong passion in providing education for students with learning difficulties and special needs. I will ensure I provide tools for the students to learn and work through challenges. To accommodate for their needs, I will use strategies of providing routine, structure, visuals, breaks and being aware of triggers that cause stress. When I create an environment that is inclusive for the students that will help them learn and grow and provide academic success. I believe technology has an influence in education and is a tool for learning. I will use tools that will enhance the classroom communication, sharing of work, to create and explore through purposeful activities. As a teacher I will be clear of what technologies to use and why so the students will use them to learn in a meaningful way. I have a commitment to teaching with respect and build positive relationships with diverse learners. I will use my professional knowledge and understanding to engage with the students. I would like to inspire the love of learning with the students by catering for the individual needs of the students using resources effectively to empower learning.
