Goal 1:
Writing and speaking effectively. My aim is to enhance the quality of therapy services I provide to my clients, improve my grammar in professional emails, and boost my confidence in presentations. To achieve this, I plan to learn five new words every day to expand my vocabulary. I will measure my progress by seeking feedback from peers and speaking up more during work meetings and discussion posts. To achieve my goal, I will utilize the writing resources offered by Walden's writing center. I will allocate an hour every week to watch grammar webinars in the writing center.
Goal 2: Develop strategies to develop self-confidence.
I believe that having confidence is crucial for acquiring graduate-level skills and progressing in one's career. However, it can be challenging to develop confidence when dealing with self-doubt and a lack of self-
esteem. To work towards this goal, I will work on maintaining eye contact during conversations, read daily affirmations from a self-help book to boost my confidence every morning and celebrate all successes. Additionally, attending Walden's monthly peer mentor live events will help me build my confidence. Although confidence may seem like an abstract goal, I plan to measure my progress in 30 days by using the Rosenberg self-esteem scale. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) is one of the most widely used self-esteem measures in social science research. It was developed by Morris Rosenberg in 1965 and is widely used in psychology, mental health, and psychiatry (Rosenberg M. Society and the Adolescent Self-Image 1965). Goal 3:
Ability to manage difficult people
One of my goals is to improve my ability to handle challenging individuals. Sometimes, clients may not be open to our services and may become troublesome, making it difficult to manage. To achieve this, I intend to conduct five client improvement surveys after each check-in to assess how I can improve engagement. Additionally, I believe Walden’s navigating field experience resource can enhance my skills to effectively manage challenging individuals in need.
