1.
Identify two types of nonverbal messages used by the interviewee when she was the sender. What is one example of her nonverbal messages that you see as evidence that her nonverbal messages were intentional in this interview? What is one example of her nonverbal messages that you see as evidence of unconscious use?
The way she walks into the office. You can tell a lot about what is going on with the person by the way they walk. She does not walk in with much confidence. The way she rolls her eyes in discussed toward the end of the scene. When she Starts to say that she does not know much about fashion and that she is a hard worker you can see the confidence in her skills come out. This was intentional to show the interview what she was made of. She stood a little taller and had better eye contact. As she turns to walk out, she waves her hand and turn and walks out. I think she does this to show that she is discussed the interview did not pay much attention to her. 2.
What is the communication goal of the interviewee (the young woman walking into the office) when she is in the role of the sender at the beginning of this interview? What is one example of evidence that this young woman made decisions for step 2 in DECIDE, evaluating the receiver and the context? Did her use of nonverbal messages help her to accomplish her communication goal? Why or why not?
Her goal is to introduce herself and hopefully get the job. She decided to walk in for an interview
and engage in the interview process. The way that the interview raised her head and looked at her she decided to stay and continue with the discussion. Some of them did and some of them did When She Started to talk about her skills and accomplishments her confidence went up and you can see the interviewer taking notice.
3.
What was one function of nonverbal communication illustrated in this interaction? Please give examples. How does this function of nonverbal communication work with the verbal communication in this interaction?
When the interviewer looks up and pulls her glasses down and looks over them. One might think
that this person is upset by the interruption. It might be read that she is looking at me and is not
really into interviewing me. This works with the verbal conversation because it throws the interviewee off.
4.
Observe the nonverbal messages used by the interviewer (the executive woman seated at her desk) when she was the receiver in the situation. Identify one type of nonverbal message used by the interviewer when she was the receiver and identify and explain one example of evidence you observed where she consciously made a decision to use this nonverbal message as the listener/receiver. Identify and explain one example of evidence you observed of a type of nonverbal message used by the interviewer when she was the receiver where she may not have been conscious of using and sending this nonverbal message.
When the interview pulls out the newspaper, she was making the decision to send the nonverbal communication that you are not worth my time to listen to. When the interviewee Started to talk about her skills and accomplishment the interviewer made the decision to look up from the paper and listen to what she had to say.

5.
Analyze the effectiveness of the nonverbal messages in this interpersonal communication. What are two specific examples of strategies used by either person to decode the nonverbal messages
used by the other person? If you were observing this specific interview situation what meaning would you have decoded from the use of one of these nonverbal messages? Why?
The interviewee receives the nonverbal communication of pulling out the newspaper and does not let that fluster her. At the end of the scene when the man walks in to talk about something it makes me wonder in the interviewer set that up to make the interviewee feel like the interviewer was not even interested in her at all. Through out the entire scene the interview makes it seem that she has no interest in the person at all. This is evident by the way she looks her up and down and begins to read the paper then has that man walk in at the end.
