2 1-2 Short Paper: Brand Evaluation The first personal brand I selected to evaluate that appeals to me is Nesha Woolery. Nesha is a renowned online graphic designer. Her personal brand statement focuses on helping online service providers restore peace, time, and spaciousness in their lives and businesses. She can transition from the hustle and overwhelm of constant pursuit of "more" to a simpler, more fulfilling life and business. I believe the brand statement is clear and effectively conveys the company's identity and aspirations. Her statement is well-positioned to capture the attention of her audience. It provides an overview of her objectives, mission, and values. Nesha created a welcoming atmosphere by discussing her journey to her current position. She aims to demonstrate that working less days can provide financial freedom, space, peace, time, and the ability to travel more. Nesha's objective is to equip business owners with the necessary tools to achieve their goals. The website features warm, welcoming colors and professional fonts, with a podcast and courses available for users to listen to and take. Her pictures effectively convey her freedom and align with her personal brand statement.
3 The second personal brand I chose to evaluate is The Skatepark Project by professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. Tony Hawk aims to offer secure and legal spaces for the youth across the nation. The brand aims to provide a secure environment for children and teenagers to express themselves through the sport of skateboarding. The personal brand aims to foster strong community involvement, grassroots fundraising, and support from law enforcement and parents. A personal brand that does not appeal to me is that of Kim Kardasian. Kim Kardashian, an American public figure, gained fame through her friendship with Paris Hilton and her role on the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" show. Kim Kardashian's Facebook page primarily discusses her underwear business, SKIMS, and the show "The Kardashians," without providing any significant engagement with the public. I personally enjoy pages that I can connect with or learn from, and I find Kim's aesthetic appealing for her social status, showcasing a flawless life with luxury. Kim Kardashian's feed is primarily filled with unreadable content.
5 Another personal brand that does not appeal to me is Jeffree Star’s cosmetics. Jeffree Star is known for his bold and unapologetic personality, which has gained him a large following primarily in the beauty and cosmetics industry. He's recognized for his makeup skills, distinctive style, and extravagant lifestyle. His brand is associated with luxury, glamour, and a rebellious attitude. He does not have a formal brand statement, but his persona and actions serve as a statement themselves. Jeffree Star's personal brand includes elements such as his mission to create high-quality, cruelty-free cosmetics that cater to diverse identities and his goal to push boundaries in the beauty industry. Visuals play a significant role in Jeffree Star's personal branding. He has a distinctive logo featuring his initials in a stylized font, which appears on his product packaging, social media profiles, and promotional materials. His use of bold colors, dramatic makeup looks, and extravagant lifestyle imagery also contribute to his brand identity. Overall, these visuals enhance his personal branding by reinforcing his image as a glamorous and
6 boundary-pushing figure in the beauty industry. His brand just does not appeal to me because I am not into cosmetics like he is. My evaluation of these four personal brands revealed the significance of having a personal brand statement. This demonstrates your mission to the audience and will attract them to your business. Your mission, goals, and values reflect who you are to the audience. To enhance my personal brand, I plan to incorporate visuals on my website to showcase my work and align with my statement. Personal branding is influenced by logos, color, and font. The logo must be visually appealing and easily recognizable to the public. The font should be appealing and clear as well and professional and draw the audience in. Resources
