Should artificial intelligence (AI) be used in classrooms?
Charlette Tallant Post University ENG110_44 Alison Buske 12/10/2023
When some people think of artificial intelligence, they think of, “Why should it be allowed in a classroom?” People should know what can be of value when it comes to AI, and where they can use it. AI is found in education, healthcare, military, law enforcement, and can be used in music and arts. Having AI in a classroom is not all bad. People have used AI to determine if a student(s) has plagiarized an assignment. Think about it, would professors have known if a student plagiarized an assignment without the knowledge of artificial intelligence, and what other ways can AI be used? Understanding AI literature can be beneficial in a classroom. It can revolutionize schooling. AI can produce instant feedback and personalize learning. People do consider the negative effects of AI. There is potential of having errors, some would fear they would lose their job. This is an emotional, critical task for professors, and can be for students also in which it will not replace the human or emotional aspects for students to succeed, but it will impact students positively without relying on it too heavily. AI can offer people to learn a new language. It gives students the opportunity to rethink the equality in technology. AI can impact learning positively by offering guidelines, questions in the framework, policies and regulations that address the ethical concerns of school education. (Zagreb, 2023) AI can be a supplement to support teachers in becoming equitable and inclusive, to be more effective in helping students to learn, and to allow them to benefit from the efficiency within the system or classroom. (Vincent-Lancrin, 2022) The growing demand in education in recent years has given rise to a thriving new field of research which integrates AI and education, which has resulted in an expansion of existing literature on EAI.
