Running head: COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION 1 Unit 4: Communication and Collaboration Juan Borrego INTD670-1803A Colorado Technical University Instructor: Kermit Pahl 8/1/18
COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION Not all companies are the same when it come to polices and procedures. There are many processes that take place daily, however it not important to implement all of them. Below is a list of processes that should take place. 1. Ethics processes are important to identify when establishing a code of conduct (Lunday, 2010). Rules and regulations must be established within the company so employees know what is expected of them in different situations. 2. Culture of the company – This is very important factor especially when dealing in a merger. The culture of the company helps employees understand the mission and vision. Thus, allowing them to identify themselves with their culture. It is important to educate the culture of both companies to achieve success. Otherwise there may be a fallout of experienced employees. (Lunday, 2010) 3. Risk Management is another factor important in the code of conduct. This must done so that all employees are aware of the risks of the organization and how to properly handle situations when they arise (Lunday, 2010). In a merger, both companies must collaborate to educate their employees how to work together as one. When putting together a code of conduct, top executives and managers must be involved in all proceedings. They are the ones who will be leading their employees and establishing goals for them to meet. If all the leaders can establish cohesion before anything gets started, this minimizes the risk of misunderstandings. Managers at the top have the power to implement changes required. (M.U.S.E. , 2018) In many styles of leadership such as democratic and autocratic, it is important for managers to implement the code of conduct to follow. One-way people can understand what their leaders expect of them is by communicating through actions and words. If leaders 2
COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION expect their employees to follow what the code of conduct says, then they must communicate that upfront. In order to establish compliance in the long run, leaders or managers must set examples with their actions. During a merger, it is important to have firm control on the constant changes that are going on for both organizations. Doing routine checks on employees will help leaders evaluate the status of the merger and how both organizations can adjust on their end to handle any issues. Deviations must be handled quickly and swiftly to avoid long term ramifications. The material shared in this course gives detailed information about both UWEAR and PALEDENIM. (Unit 4 course material, 2018)However, it is not clear on what basis is the merger or collaboration occurring. I would request more information on the current research and details of the reason why the merger was voted on by the organizations. This would make it easier to assess the situation to formulate the code of conduct for the companies. In the end, the overall mission of both companies is to effectively process this merger without adding more costs financially or losing employee strength. References Lunday, J. (2010, July 1).
