"A case study on children’s social competence during their transition from pre-school to Primary school" Introduction Children's move from pre-school towards primary school is regarded as among the most important times of their lives. This time being characterized by major shifts in the child's behavior, and also in their social and family setting, introducing him or her to a broad spectrum of expectations about which they are required to react as per prescribed expectations. It is a diverse as well as changing mechanism that is directed not just at students' academic performance as well as at their psychology growth. This is an important aspect of the diverse learning process as well as provides a major contribution to the intellectual as well as personal improvement procedure. Therefore, the emphasis of this transfer to primary school research will be on initiatives targeted at encouraging the unique knowledge and capabilities that infants may have learned prior to entering primary school and what social competences they are required for smooth transition. Rational- The main reason behind conducts this study is to examine the challenges faces by children who transit from pre-school to primary school. Problem statement Throughout their move to primary school, children who lack adequate social competence are at risk. Thus, the research will help in identifying different programs that can improve the competencies in the early childhood that will solve the issue. The main reason of conducting this study is because, children who gain social skill as well as show meaningful associations before entering kindergarten not only have a better chance of pursuing a stable social–emotional growth path, but they also have a better chance of achieving in school. Research questions What are the possible changes children face while transit from pre- school to primary school? What are the required social competence during the transition? What challenges students can face during the transition? What are the strategies through which the skills and competencies can improve? Literature review As per the view of İman and et.al (2017) social competence is described as a holistic persona development that involves awareness, skills, as well as abilities acquired through the socialization phase that enable a person to respond rapidly as well as appropriately in community and interact efficiently with their social context. Gadaire and et.al (2017) identified that, the transition of infants to new developments throughout that school cycle could have long-term implications for the children's educational growth, socialization, and the creation of stronger personality traits. However, Creavey and et.al (2018) stated that most early childhood services encourage learning abilities as well as have concentrated on the premature development of cognitive results, emphasizing that children must identify numbers and letters before they reach primary school, as these are the basic components of literacy. The improvement of social competence enables for productive contact with the community, the learning of interpersonal interactions with people in their environment, as well as the seamless integration of children into the learning environment. Alienation as well as school rejection may result from the inability or absence of such skills. As a consequence, most early education 4
programmes perceive social-emotional learning as well as the skills that go along with it to be important aspects of the teaching approach. According to İman and et.al (2017) there are comprehensive structured ability to improve social skills, parents partake throughout play-based educational experiences with kindergartners in an elevated school setting, so the systemic issue which happens through play is important for children to enjoy the educational advantages that early childhood offers. Research methodology Research philosophy There are various types of philosophies; positivist, pragmatist, realistic and interpretivist (Snyder, 2019). For this study, the researcher will use interpretivism philosophy as this will enable the researcher to collect and interpret the information in subjective manner. Research approach Approaches are systematic process followed by the research to achieve their aims and objectives. The research will be performed using core inductive approach to get specific knowledge and receive general outcome about the topic. This will offer sufficient advice and encouragement to identify or generate new claims based on existing information. Research design There are numerous designs of research are available such as observational, descriptive and experimental, etc. The analyst will use a descriptive style for the ongoing inquiry. It suggests that a rigorous review of the matter will be undertaken. Descriptive design enables to get comprehensive knowledge about children mental condition while transit from pre-school to primary school. Data collection The study will solely base on secondary data collection method and the main reason to not including primary study is because of Covid-19 situations. Thus, the research will collect information from different publications, articles, journals. It could help in comprehending the subject and ensuring that the inquiry is completed on schedule. 5
Data analysis Quantitative data analysis will be the main consideration that goes hand in hand with the secondary analysis. Different themes of the analysis will be structured as per the interpretation of objectives using thematic analysis (Dźwigoł and Dźwigoł-Barosz, 2018). Research limitation It can be stated that the limited availability of resources as of current pandemic situation will the biggest constraint linked with this investigation. In additional to this, limited availability of data is also a key limitation which was faced while conducting this investigation. Ethical consideration The researcher will take care of all the elements of ethics and will focus on informed consent and anonymity. In addition, participants will be protected by the Data Privacy Act, meaning that no sensitive information will be exchanged with third parties. ts Submission Conclusion The report concluded that children face many challenges while transit from pre-school to primary school. Additionally, there parents and society also struggling with their children. The report sums up with providing critical evaluation about such challenges . Moreover, From the above analysis, it is evident that the research will be estimated to complete within 5 weeks through using secondary analysis. It has been identified that there are certain issues that required to be considered by the research and also on the possible solutions. 7
