Comprehensive Mid-Semester Assessment (15%) Your Task: Demonstrate the learning that you have accomplished through Weeks 1-5 in COMM1085 by writing a fully developed paragraph in response to the following prompts and providing a complete reference for one of the articles you quote in your paragraph. Below you will see 3 questions / prompts. Each one is related to a particular topic and pair of readings that we explored earlier in the term. Choose the one question that you feel most confident to discuss. Write your response in the text box provided. The boxes will expand if you want to write more than the space provided. After you write your paragraph, create a reference for the text that you quoted, using the textbox provided specifically for the reference. You can delete the questions that you don’t answer or leave them blank, as you prefer. Use “Save As” to give the file a new name after you begin to ensure that you do not accidentally submit the blank template for grading. Instructions: You are free to discuss this assignment with your classmates, but all answers must be your own . Answers that are too similar could result in Academic Integrity Violations. You will be graded on your ability to present your answer in a fully developed academic paragraph. Remember to carefully read the assignment instructions in the eConestoga Evaluations module and refer to the rubric to make sure that you have completed all aspects of the assignment correctly. Upload the assignment early enough to allow time to check the full Turnitin report (not just the similarity percentage). If necessary, make changes and upload the assignment again. Your professor will grade only the most recently uploaded file. If you have any difficulties using this template, please contact your professor immediately and they will assist you.
2 1. Personal Identity In “The power of indigenous language learning” and “My meatballs, my self” we heard from people who explored the history and culture of their heritage through language and through food. Both authors wrote about their effort to better understand who they are and where they came from. Each discovered their identities were shaped by multiple influences. If you could travel back in time, what would you tell your younger self as they begin to shape and explore their own identity? Explain and support your answer with at least one integrated quotation from a text mentioned above, in addition to personal examples. Provide a reference for the text you quoted in this exercise, using the assigned academic style guide. Place your reference in the empty box below, in the appropriate location. Some features of a real reference page have already been included, and the necessary spacing and formatting requirements have also been selected. Reference 1
