2 Work life balance and performance of employees The balance between work and personal life makes the life of the employees very easy and enjoyable. The employees who have better work life balance would have more fun, efficiency and greater performance, productivity in comparison to the employees having work life conflict. The employees who had work life balance would be efficient, and would have intellectual and personal development (Johari et al., 2018).. Work Life balance help employees to improve their performance as it brings improvement in their mental wellbeing, they achieve job satisfaction. Satisfied employees and employee with better work life balance do contributes achieving higher levels of efficiency(Kalliath et al, 2020).. The workers with work life conflict in work life would increase the chance of turnover intention of employees as they feel demotivated and want to quit(Yildiz et al, 2021). Overall, work life balance is good for both employees as well as the organization they are working with. The independence given to the employees at workplace make the work environment very peaceful and help employees in their menial wellbeing. The interest of the employees in job engagement is increased. Employees feel attached to the organization and work with more enthusiasm. The autonomy given to workers at the work place and increased work life balance increases their job performance. Workers exhibit a positive mood and their engagement on the job is also increased (Johari et al., 2018). Work life balance brings efficiency and personal development of employees. Employees having better personal life would have better mood at workplace hence their psychological wellbeing and harmony
3 would help them to concentrate on their work and perform better than others (Johari et al., 2018). Sometimes some of the employees do not have peaceful work life balance due to obligation towards their families and lack of support from any family member, and sometimes the workers are not able to give time to their families because of the jobs assigned at work. Their work schedule is so busy that they always find it difficult to cop with the stress. This situation becomes work life conflict. Work family conflict does not let the employees concentrate on their work and they always wish to leave their jobs. When employees do have more family responsibilities such as marriage, family or older people to look after, and cannot balance their work life de velop more leaving intentions (Yildiz et al, 2021) . The employees having conflicts in their homes and work lives often develop the intentions to leave the jobs in order to correct the things. The trend of developing leaving intentions often can be seen in the nursing sector where most of the workers are women. Women do have more family responsibilities in comparison to their male counterparts. Women have responsibilities such as responsibility towards spouse, child care and the responsibility towards that family member who needs special care(Yildiz et al, 2021). Such workers who do not find balance between their work life and family life find an easy way to leave the job in order to protect their mental health (Yildiz et al, 2021). Work life balance enriches the job satisfaction. There are many factors that contribute to the job enrichment and job satisfaction, here the support of the supervisor is the biggest factor. The workers with good work life balance feel motivated and with the support of the employer

Flexibility in working hours and compressed work week increase the job satisfaction and also help employees to give time to their families which in turn bring work life balance. The more responsibilities at home towards sick in the family, child care, marriage responsibilities sometimes demand flexible working hours (Kalliath et al, 2020). Overall it is beneficial for both employees and employer that employees do have better work life balance. It would enrich job experience of the employees and help them perform better . Satisfied employees perform better than others. Work life balance help to improve the mental wellbeing of employees and keep them motivated. The effort to achieve work life balance is not possible without the support of employer(Kalliath et al, 2020). Work Life balance help employees to improve their performance as it brings improvement in their mental wellbeing, they achieve job satisfaction whereas conflict in work life increase the chance of turnover intention of employees as they feel demotivated and want to quit. In order to promote the work life family balance, alternatives such as flexible working hours, job sharing might be adopted in order to enrich job satisfaction and reduce leaving intentions (Yildiz et al, 2021).
