FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL 2 Research Proposal on the Intercultural Communication Strategies and Challenges for International Hotel Interns in United States of America Introduction My topic of the study will be on how the intercultural communication influences international organizations such as restaurants. Communication being an interaction technique among people in the society allows individuals to socialize with people from various cultural backgrounds. Globalization has increases the mobility of foreign tourists to move from nation to nation for leisure and business purposes and this has resulted to inevitable exchange of language and culture. The society needs excellent plans to enhance efficient communication and comprehension among cultures because the variations in race, language, and color results to misunderstandings between different cultures. Furthermore, the difference in the languages of people from different cultural backgrounds establishes an impediment to communication among people from different cultural origin. Research Objectives The primary objective of the study is to explore the strategies and challenges of the intercultural communication employed by international undergraduate students who have undergone internship program at a hotel training center as part of academic requirement. The findings and results if this study opts on shading lights on the hospitality program that aims at developing student’s competency in intercultural communication which is applicable and relevant in transforming their future at hotel experts. Besides, the study focus on exploring on exploring the importance of intercultural communication in business, the barriers to intercultural
FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL 3 communication in business, and some of the strategies that when adopted can help individuals to improve their intercultural business communication skills. Research Methodology Research Setting and Participants The study will conducted in a restaurant owned by an international airport in United States after I shall have received an authorization from the hotel manager. The participants that I will rely on as my source of information would include college students who are serving as interns and some of the hotel staffs. My research will focus majorly on interns doing bachelor degree on course related to international diversity such as Bachelor of Business Administration (International Program) on Tourism Management and Hospitality Management at the in-house training center. Data Collection Methods The study will employ a mixed research method approach. Once the authority to carryout research have been given, data will be collected from participants primarily using research questionnaire. He each participants will be provided with a handout containing a list of questions on which they will be asked to respond. The questionnaires will be designed with a list of questions which will best satisfy the objective of the study. After collecting data, findings and results will be analyzed using an appropriate based on the nature of research findings.
