Calculation:

  $-y-4x=2\mathrm{.........}(2)$

Elimination method is best to solve these equations

Adding equation (1) and (2)

  $\begin{array}{l}4x+2y=12\\ +(-4x-y=2)\\ \overline{0+y=14}\end{array}$

Then, $y=14$

Substituting value of y in equation (2)

  $-(14)-4x=2$

On solving,

  $-4x=16$

On soiving,

  $x=-4$
