Summary Introduction
Herpes viruses are a large group of viruses which causes a variety of human disease. This includes chicken pox, shingles, venereal herpes, and fever blisters. It remains in the latent state in the host for a longer period of time and become active under favorable conditions. It consists of a linear, double-stranded DNA molecule which was encased in an icosahedral capsid. The capsid was surrounded by a lipid bilayer called the envelope. The envelope and the capsid are joined together by means of tegument.
