An antimycotic drug is also called as an antifungal medication. It is used to prevent or treat mycosis such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, cryptococcal (serious systemic infections), candidiasis and meningitis. Antifungal drugs can be classified into two major classes such as azoles and polyenes. Both these two drugs inhibit the synthesis of the fungal cell membrane.
