Antibiotics are drugs which are used to treat the infections caused by bacteria. It does not have an effect on viral infections. An antibiotic is originally a substance generated by one microorganism, which selectively inhibits the growth of another. Penicillin is an antibiotic and it was discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1926 which is produced by the fungi. It also has the ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria.
